Transferring universities and catching up with the work!

Okay, so it's a long story, but basically in August I got the grades to go to the university that I like, but then I was having doubts about the course, so I went through clearing and found a course that I thought I would like at a different university. However, I came home last weekend and knew I had made a mistake so my mom and I contacted the original university and it looks like I have a good chance of going back there. The accommodation also has some rooms left. I was just wondering if anybody has had a similar experience and if so, did they have a lot of work to catch up on? Both universities had the same starting date, meaning that last week was Fresher's week and this week is when the courses start. I'm not quite sure when I will be starting as they haven't yet told me. I'm guessing either next week or the week after. Also, will it affect my attendance?
