Any chance of studying English at uni with bad AS result?

I'm planning on applying to study English in a couple weeks time when I have finished my personal statement but the likelihood of rejection seems quite high to me. I dropped a subject in first year so only managed two AS', I'm doing an entire A level in my second year to boost it up to 3 full A levels, but I got a B in sociology and a D in English (B in one paper, U?! in the other) I'm resitting the U because it doesn't seem right at all (English is my passion, hence why I want to continue it) on UCAS it states I have to include all of my results, even the failed ones. Is there any chance any university will even mildly consider me for English when I got a D in AS? I know I'm capable of so much more and I'm predicted an A this year if my resit goes well. Should I just be expecting rejection?
