Student life at The Courtauld Institute?

Hi, I want to send my ucas off soon, but still can't make my mind up whether or not to apply to The Courtauld. The course looks amazing and is everything I could want, also (judging by the open day and a summer school) the atmoshere seemed so freindly too.

But, the only thing that is putting me off somewhat is the fact that I will be in an environment with people also doing History of Art. For anyone who is at The Courtauld would you say this makes your experience a bit limited? I really want to meet different people when at uni. Also, how hard would you say it is to meet people from other university of London colleges? I'm quite shy, but if (I was lucky enough) to get into The Courtauld, if I had the chance would make a real effort to get to know other people. Thanks .

I'm not at the Courtauld (yet), but this is an interesting question I'd not thought about before. I would think that it being in London, you'll have ample opportunity to socialise in many different situations. Courtauld appears to be the best at what it does - Art History - so if you get accepted there I would just jump in and seize the opportunity. If you want to socialise with other undergraduates, you'll still have the opportunity, but from my experience, drunken pot-smoking loud-music pseudo-orgies are on their way out. It's been overdone. You're likely to meet slightly more sophisticated people at Courtauld, which can only be a good thing.

You are silly. You pay no attention to cultural trends, and attempt to call people who do. Nothing lasts forever neon. Party culture has maxed itself out, and is no longer supportable by failing economies. Drugs have gone prescription, alcohol use is down, marijuana religion is passé, tuition is skyrocketing, television is no longer promoting sophomoric debauchery, and you have been left behind.

Perhaps you might consider ending your smoking habit - cigarettes are filthy and lead to poor health and hygiene.

First of all, I have never and will never smoke cigarettes. Secondly, you're not at courthauld (yet) making me guess you haven't attended university (yet). This forum is full of people making sweeping generalisations and assumptions without ever actually being at university. Being qualified to make a statement is important. You are not.

Hi,I don't have facebook anymore. I'm really glad they have the interview and test, its good to have more opportunities to prove yourself! Did you go to the application support day? Did they say anything really useful? I'm curious because I didn't manage to go.
