Re: BoxingI finally got around to watching this and kind of agree. I thought the cut was as bad in round 1 as it was in round 5, so a no contest? I feel sorry for a legend like Barrera not getting a fair shot. Khan looked good but Barrera's vision was clearly impaired so it tarnishes the win.(Original post by Viva La Revolution)
the cut messed up the whole fightt for me :-( didnt really prove nothing he fought a half blind man
he has got his guard upp that was good -

It is however Hattons' best weight so I wouldn't say it will be an easy win for Pac.

Hatton could easily step up to Mayweather. It's just that Mayweather has a very good techique and great hand speed. Like Klinsmann said, if Mayweather was that good, he would of knocked out Judah, which he never. When Hatton does fight him, Mayweather will be hurt badly. But Hatton will probably be cut badly.
Don't forget that Hatton has had 41 fights (I think) with 0 losses. Enough experience there to easily get him through a fight with Floyd.
well guys hatton has been defeated by Mayweather Jr. and now the fight of east vs west is coming this May 2nd.Hatton vs Pacquiao this is more exciting
i can't wait for there fight guys ^_^

I still worry about Hatton's stamina.
Can't pick a winner yet, but a Hatton win would be great, followed by a rematch, then an amazing finale capping off a trilogy that comes out on DVD for future generations to witness. Not asking much huh?

Re: Boxing
Anyone watch Povetkin - Estrada and Bradley - Holt last night?
I'm not going to go into the first one; it was a total yawn-fest and confirms my dislike of the Heavyweight division.
I'm glad Bradley won the fight though; I only had him a couple of rounds up and had a feeling he was going to get jobbed. The better man won - Holt has been running his luck for some time now, with a lucky headbutt victory over Torres and a very marginal win over Demetrius Hopkins (who I thought was actually better on the night). It was obvious he was getting a bit complacent, and he was outworked by the younger, hungrier fighter.
As Buncey said on the Setanta Coverage, Holt tried to give Timmy a B-Hop - Pavlik lecture at the end of the fight as if he had it in the bag, and then had his loss announced . . . classic. Nice one Bradley!

Re: BoxingI would - even if he wins, he'll have to relinquish his titles immediately to be able to fulfill the contract, and if he wins the rematch he'll have to fight Vitali (which will probably be in a non-title fight, as the fight will be contractually obliged, so K2 can pick the conditions). So he'll end up having spent 18 months of his life in 3 David vs. Goliath fights, and will finish with no titles.(Original post by Pavlik)
I can't see who else Haye would really want to fight tbh. So he shouldn't be too bothered about it.
Apparently, the split is also something ridiculous like 80-20.
I used to be a fan of the Klitschkos, since they always seem quite modest, polite and articulate. But this state of affairs makes me think they're just like de la Hoya: they're pretty on the outside, but behind the scenes they just act like greedy bully boys. Remember all that mongering DLH did against Floyd Jr and Pacman? It's being mirrored now. -
Re: BoxingTrue, but you want the belts as a symbol of your achievement - to step up and sweept the board with titles is what he originally expressed an interest in. I think Haye is a mouthy bastard, but K2's shenanigans are pretty dodgy, too.(Original post by Pavlik)
Why would Haye care about titles though? Two wins over Wlad and a win over Vitali, should that come to pass, would mean a lot more than a win over Wlad and any two other heavyweights, belts or not. How much credit would he really get for beating Ruslan Chagaev?
Also, Haye was a complete dick to Wlad when he was trying to get the fight, remember how he rudely came up to him in public and started insulting him, so if I was Wlad I'd want to give him the worst deal possible (especially since Haye was obviously so desperate for the fight). -
Re: Boxing
Kotelnik is slow, so this seems a good choice for Khan. AK went on Setanta the other week and said Kotelnik wasn't a good world champ (he was asked the question), and I tend to agree tbh. He never really fancied the Ortiz fight and would have got KO'd...AK will win fairly easily on points imo. I don't think the step up in weight will hinder Khan in any way because of his fitness, speed and coaching from Roach (who did a great job with Manny vs ODLH).

Re: BoxingHaven't seen the Witter fight tbh, but I saw him against Rees who gave him lots of trouble early on despite the difference in height and reach, and I've just seen highlights of his last fight against Maidana. Kotelnik seems very slow around the ring and has a high guard, so I reckon Khan will get the chance for some good body shots and good combinations. It will be one of Khan's tougher fights, but if he boxes clever Kotelnik won't get close to him.(Original post by Né Stig)
Amir fighting Kotelnik is proper hard. Please take a look at the Witter fight to see that. Junior is a great fighter, and he gave him a hard time.
As for Haye - it's not him being rude, but rather selling the fight. Wladmir couldn't sell a boxing glove.
I agree with the Haye thing. The heavyweight division just seems so boring and stale atm, so Haye is good for the promotion of the fight and the sport imo. + I miss the spikey rivalries of the 1990s.Last edited by Klinsmannic; 08-04-2009 at 23:32.
