How did Victor Ortiz lose his fight? it was shocking to see Ortiz not come out for the 10th
both fighters landing big shots to the head and body. According to Ortiz, one the punches broke his jaw. Both he and his corner men agreed to stop the bout.

A broken jaw is nothing to mess around with. Quitting after suffering a broken jaw is reasonable. It's not like when he quitted on the Maidana fight. I know Ali fought on with a broken jaw ... but Ali was really something else.

hey guys, does anyone know how i could get into watching boxing and like explain to me the different leagues please. Also does anyone know where i could watch live matches online?

    Thanks
There isn't too much to explain. The different weight classes in boxing are:

    Spoiler:
    Show
    Flyweight

    Bantamweight

    Featherweight

    Lightweight

    Welterweight

    Middleweight

    Cruiserweight

    Heavyweight

Welterweight is where most of the action is at and is considered the most entertaining division.

The main world title belts are:

    Spoiler:
    Show
    WBA

    WBO

    IBF

    WBC

    How boxing is scored:

    Spoiler:
    Show
There are typically three judges for each fight, who calculate points as follows:

If a judge deems that fighter A has out-boxed fighter B in a round, then s/he will score the round 10 points for fighter A, and 9 points for fighter B. If fighter B is knocked down by fighter A, and receives a standing count, then the round is scored 10 points to fighter A and 8 points to fighter B. If the judge decides that neither fighter won a round, then he will score it 10 points to each fighter.

If a fighter is penalized by the referee (such as for multiple low blows), then the referee will turn to each ring-side judge individually and instruct him to deduct a point for that fighter from their score card for that round.

The referee collects the judges' scorecards after every round and delivers them to the ring-side commissioner. At the end of the fight, the points are totaled to arrive at a decision (win, loss, or draw).

    - If all judges score for boxer A then it is a win by unanimous decision (UD) for boxer A
    - If two judges score for boxer A and one judge scores a draw then it is a majority decision (MD) win for boxer A
    - If two judges score for boxer A and one judge scores for boxer B then it is a split decision (SD) win for boxer A
    - If all judges score a draw then it is a draw by unanimous decision (D-UD)
    - If two judges score a draw and one judge scores for either boxer then it is a majority draw (D-MD)

If you have any other questions maybe just leave a comment in this thread and hopefully someone will respond. Although, due to the inactivity of it you are perhaps better off just quoting me.

How long back do you refer to?

And it will be fun again as soon as the Pacweather fight is made!

Pac and PBF should have fought in early 2010. Age seems to be catching up to both of them ever so slightly now, and I get the feeling if it was to happen now it would be a massive anticlimax.

I get the impression that Pac is getting past it, if his last few performaces are anything to go by. Don't get me wrong he obviously deserved to win against Bradley, but it was still a poor performance and he definitley deserved to lose to Marquez. In fact, I'm pretty sure PBF would beat him with quite a wide unanimous victory and I used to think Pacquaio would be the victor a couple of years ago too.

I'm still a bit undecided, although id lean slightly towards PBF.

I would of loved to have seen Mayweather v Whittaker and Pacquiao v Duran/Chavez somehow though. :coma:

Me too. Although currently the only person I want to see fight PBF is Khan. I feel like a taller and speedy fighter should make for some entertaining rounds. Any other opponent would be a waste of time as I can't think of anyone else who would give PBF any problems.

Edit: Wait, I completely forgot about Sergio Martinez. That's the only other opponent that PBF should face.

I would be very, very, very surprised if Mayweather fought Martinez. He's a lot heavier, taller, has a big punch, is slick and has a good chin. The only way I can see it happening is if Mayweather forces Martinez to come down to WW.

I think Haye will KO him (again).

Martinez says he is willing to come down to Super WW and Mayweather did go up to Super WW to fight Cotto in May, so it is a possibility. However, it is risky and we all know that Mayweather doesn't like to take risks. And Martinez does keep calling Mayweather out.

I suppose Haye may be too fast for the flabby Chisora. But if his toe breaks Chisora is in with a chance.

So, the chosen one Kell Brook looks to continue his rise to stardom against Carson Jones tomorrow. How do you all see this fight going?
I thought the chosen one fought great last time out against Matthew Hatton but couldn't quite find a way to get Hatton out of there, I think Brook will make a KO before it goes to 12 this time.

    I'm predicting Brook on points.

Fury on channel 5 as well should be a slug fest. Wlad Klitschko fights tonight as well but that's already a foregone conclusion.

Is Wladimir Klitschko's fight being shown either on channel 5 or on sky sports 1?

Wow, the Kell Brook fight was a bit tense!

The special one got the win in the end, but it was not plain sailing at all, Carson Jones was pushing him around and Brook wasn't doing enough boxing. He was hanging on in the end, but the special one showed his class early on, so I think a very narrow points win is just about the right verdict.

    Re: Boxing
Anyone watching the fury fight? Although fury is clearly beating maddalone I thinks it's just because maddalone is clearly not a very good fighter. Slow, no stamina can't land punches. Before the fight fury was saying he could beat klitschko, I very much doubt it though. Not yet at least, he still looks clumsy, is quite slow and his punches do not look hard enough. Has he ever knocked someone out? He seems to be able to beat his opponents because they are unfit, slow and don't have great ability, he is tall with a long jab, he can bounce a bit and given the slow pace of his opponents he can dodge. But vlad is a whole other level, I reckon with vlads pace, power, stamina and technical ability if he fought fury, fury would be out in the first round.

I don't have anything against fury, seems like an alright guy but he is not ready for klitschko he needs to improve massively. Got potential though.
