Re: Your bookshelf...
I brought 30(ish) books with me to uni - none particularly course related. I left most of my bookshelf at home - it's pretty full with books I've inherited and collected over the years. I had to leave most of them - all the big ones and a lot of the rest that I rarely look at.
I brought a selection of cookbooks, fiction, philosophy and religious, and the odd non-fiction. They take up most of one of my shelves.
I have another bunch (maybe 30 or so) on kindle too - mainly fiction. I share my kindle account with my siblings so have a bunch of teen fiction books etc -
Re: Your bookshelf...
10 Law textbooks/statute books/revision guides and 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' (because it's my favourite book EVAR) with me at uni. Lots more (Law and fiction) on a shelf at home. Generally go for the classics, I'm a bit of a literature nerd. And I don't own a kindle, I much prefer the paper versions.

Re: Your bookshelf...
I genuinely have no idea how many books I own. If I had to guess it would probably be around the 500 mark. Mostly fiction (both English and French) and philosophy books.
Most of these books I've bought myself: I can't resist popping down to Charing Cross Road to pick up second hand books or occasionally, my dad will pass books along to me (he is also a massive nerd when it comes to reading).
It's such a bad habit though - I hate getting books from the library as I like to physically own them. Yet I'm running out of space to put them all: I've filled 4 floor to ceiling bookcases (double filled each shelf with books) so I've resorted to piling books on my bedroom floor. Have you seen Black Books? My room ressembles that shop.
There's also no way that I'd consider getting a Kindle. -
Re: Your bookshelf...
I have two or three hundred with me, maybe one hundred(?) in storage and quite a few that I've let people borrow and forgot to get back. I would say about a third is fiction, maybe slightly more and the rest are mostly philosophy, politics, history and biographies with a few other bits and pieces here and there.
Also: **** dat kindle

Re: Your bookshelf...See I don't lend people books because I'd worry about not getting them back. Or worse, getting them back with folded page corners. I'm far too overprotective of my books - I clearly need to get a life.(Original post by paddy__power)

Re: Your bookshelf...Yep. That or leaving the book open face-down and destroying the spine(Original post by .Scout.)
