Hey well done on the offer! I was just wondering what grades you got for AS and what are you predicted?

Last year I got a B in English Lit, B in Psychology, D in Biology and E in CHemistry. I dropped chemistry this year and am resitting the EMPA coursework in Biology

I'm predicted BBC - but one thing that worries me is that Surrey wants BBB and they gave me an interview anyway... could that mean before I go to the interview, I'm already rejected??? :frown:

What about you?

Hey there - I don't think that they would interview you if they planned on rejecting you  x

Hi there! I have an offer and I was wondering - what is the shopping like? x

Ok well basically the actual campus is in Hatfield which I'll be completely honest, the shopping is pretty rubbish. They have a shopping center called the Galleria, but it's an outlet center so nothing like Topshop etc.

The good news is St. Albans is fantastic for shopping, has basically every shop you could ever want and it's literally a 5/10 minute drive or the free Uni buses go there like every 5 minutes! It's a lovely town, got a shopping center and a good high street. Good restaurants too. It's very middle classy and people are generally friendly :-)

However, food wise, there is a giaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant Asda in Hatfield near the Uni and it's seriously cheap. My friends manage to live off like 20 pound a week and seem to always have so much food.

Not sure if you live in London, but from St Albans it takes about half an hour on train to get to Oxford Street so there is always also that option.

Hope that helps :-)

Ahh right, when's your Surrey interview? Not necessarily no, if they gave you an interview they must see potential
I've had an offer from Surrey and Cardiff but I was recently rejected from Hertfordshire after an interview.. But I'm a little confused as to why I was (I don't mean to sound big headed) but I got offers from better uni's with higher grade boundaries, and I don't know why they rejected me because I was well prepared and all the other people at my interview day weren't even keen on doing nursing which was really frustrating! :/

I applied to do Adult Nursing and had the interview there two weeks ago. Then I got a conditional a week later! So happy!!! I love the uni because it's very rural, couple hours from home and London is less than an hour away! I'm thinking of putting Herts as my insurance choice as Brookes, Surrey and Nottingham have a higher entry requirement but who knows? I might get rejected by them!

I got rejected by Bucks New Uni the other night which really annoyed me but it didn't matter because I didn't like the campus and you won't get much student life there

Hi Jsv3,

I would love to get an interview for here, hopefully will hear soon, was that for the bsc? thas great that it is so close to london, wanted somewhere aswell close to an airport as I'm from ireland so would make it that bit easier for me to get home and herts is only 40 mins direct to stansted so it's great:smile: my friend did the bsc adult nursing in herts and loved it:smile: i wonder are the holding interviews for the msc in adult nursing at different times than the bsc

Same! It's so annoying how that happens :frown: got an offer from Herts but rejected by Bucks but herts have a fairly higher entry requirement. Maybe it's a case of being over-qualified for that certain uni because i think they do like to be fair for everyone. But what do I know? :P My interview is on the 24th

It was for the Bsc, yes  stansted isn't too far away so you'll be fine in terms of getting home  when i had my interview there was one person who had an interview for the Msc so they don't have interviews at different times.

Why go to stansted if London Luton Airport is pretty much right next to Hatfield? :O, well it's a 20 min drive or so but stansted is more like a 60 min drive (depending on traffic as well cause you need to go over the M25 so yeah)

Just had a quick look on the easy jet website, they only fly to belfast from Luton not sure where exactly you are in ireland obviously!

If you guys have any questions feel free to ask! I graduated from Herts last year and now work there full-time XD they won't let me go!!!!!!

That's great! From Luton to Hatfield with a regular line bus takes about an hour yes, because it doesn't go over the motorway but goes through all the little places that are between Luton and Hatfield. With National express which is a direct bus from Luton to Hatfield it takes 20 min

I've got a conditional for History. I'm predicted ABB but going for Herts as my firm (BBB) even though I've got offers from Kent + Roehampton (ABB), Probably gonna go Oxford Brookes (BBB) for my insurance, then if I don't get into Herts, I'll have to beg Brookes, shouldn't come to that though. Herts is cheaper, closer to London, closer to home and cheaper to get into London than Kent, so it's swung my decision! Can't wait!

Wow, that sounds so fun (the year abroad) and if you are really not sure about it why don't you go to an open day/visiter day?? XD Hertfordshire are the only uni that haven't replied to me yet *sniff* and they are my first choice ;3; it's only been 2 weeks granted...

Thing is I live in Gibraltar so I'd have to get a plane to go haha and I don't have the time :frown: Did you get a reply?? What are you studying? Have you visited Hertfordshire?? I really wanna know if they definitely do a year abroad as it is something I am set on right now!

I went to the open day the Sunday before last. I'll give you my impression of Herts (Sport and Exercise Science applicant who isn't into the clubbing scene). Hertfordshire is my top choice, by the way.

- de Hav and College Lane are close to each other but they still have a bus service that runs every 5-10 minutes between them. It's a 3 minute trip, very convenient.

- The Forum is the go-to place for socialising if you're not going out of town. It's located on the College Lane campus. There are also a lot of cafes and student lounges with wifi.

- It's easy to get to London like you said. I'll be meeting up with a friend at UCL every so often while I'm there.

- Each campus has its own large Learning Resources Centre, both of which are open 24/7 (literally). I love the idea of being able to study in a quiet building at 3am. Weird, I know.

- The Sports Village is pretty good. The gym is mostly cardio equipment with resistance machines near the front and a small free weights section at the back. They've got a couple squash courts, lots of badminton courts, basketball courts, a swimming pool, club rooms for several other sports... can't say I managed to see them all but I'll definitely be looking into them.

- Between the campuses is The Galleria, a large mall with everything from Subway to Sports Direct to Waterstones to Odeon.

- Food shopping won't be a problem with ASDA and ALDI and Tesco and other supermarkets in close proximity.

The de Hav accommodation and most of College Lane is really nice, but I'm leaning towards private accommodation straight away. I won't be able to bring my digital piano or drawing desk otherwise D:

Personally, it's my ideal environment. A quiet town, close to London, convenient coach service home and very nice sports facilities.

Thank you for that review! Really appreciate it! Did you find anything out about the year abroad options? Please let me know because it's quite an important factor too! haha

The university has been closed from Saturday the 22nd of December and will reopen next Wednesday (the 2nd), so if you emailed in that period that might explain why they haven't replied.

Most courses offer a year abroad really, the university has over 150 partner universities around the world. You can study in most European countries, as well as in the USA, Canada, Latin America, South Africa, China, Korea and Japan, South East Asia and Australia.

All students qualify for an Erasmus grant when studying within Europe. The University offers a number of Global Scholarships and Santander Universities Scholarships to students studying outside of Europe.

It doesn't even really matter if you would rather study something at your chosen university that is not directly related to your subject!

I have found a document that should have all information in it you need on studying abroad. I think posting your email address is not allowed on here so I will PM you. If you drop me an email on that address I will send it to you right away.

Hope this helps.
