pulleys/ string on hoodies/coats

What are those bits of thick string called that you get on hoodies and some coats, to tighten the hood?

Me and my boyfriend/friends call them 'dingle-dangles' as we don't know their proper names, but can get funny looks for saying it from people nearby! :colondollar:

Honestly, I've never felt the need to name them. I'm kinda interested now...

We didn't really have a name for them before. But one day one of my friends had their hood up inside even though it was boiling hot, so another pulled on the strings, so they couldn't see and the person said ''Don't pull on my dingle-dangles, I can't see'' and it stuck.
