I checked out Universität Zürich and the fees appear to be quite cheap at CHF 640 per semester. How many semesters are there in total throughout your undergrad studies? also, the website mentions that the courses are conducted in German/English. Just to confirm, whether its conducted in English in reality coz i dont want to go all the way there to realize its in German :frown:

aww, the downside is that despite the low tuition fees, the cost of living in switzerland is pretty high :frown:

"Living expenses: between CHF 19,000.- and 29,000.- per year (depending on the location of the university and personal demands) "

Also got this info for those who are interested:
"Q: What is the cost of a year's study in Zurich?
A: Tuition fees for undergraduates are approximately CHF 1,300 per year and for doctoral students about CHF 300 per year. Living costs amount to about CHF 18,000 per year. The Student Financial Aid Office publishes a summary (in German) of the expenses students should expect. The Budget Advisory Center publishes a questionnaire on personal budget planning in German."

Can someone tell me if one needs to be proficient in German language in order to be admitted into swiss unis? cos according to this info given, you need to be well-versed in German :frown::
"Guidelines and recognized German diplomas

In accordance with the guidelines for the German language examination at the University of Zurich, students who meet the admission requirements but are not native German speakers are required to sit an examination in German. Undergrad studies will normally be 6 semesters. And the classes will normally be in German, so you will have to prove that you are proficient in German. It will depend on what you want to study though. For science or political/management subjects you will need less German than for the humanities or social sciences. They might also offer a few programs which can be taken completely in English although that would be the exception.

Hey there I'm bilingual English and Swiss German and I've got to take the Goethe Exam C1 if I wanted to study in Switzerland (and that's for English lit, a course delivered in English). Of course, mine's MA-level, but still...

Living cost wise... I've seen room's to rent for about 450-750 CHF a month so that's between £270-£450 and it usually included water, electricity, gas and internet. Food, I believe to be cheaper and of higher quality, although you don't get great tea  :p:

personally if you can get a job (i dunno if you could) but just a part-time one, then you're pretty much fine. The minimum wage here is £4.77-£4.83 for a person aged 18-21, where as in Switz it's approximately £12. That'd be like working in a Sainsbury's. If you were allowed to teach English somewhere you could make a lot more. (That's my guessing btw).

I'm thinking about going out there, just cos my parents live near Zurich and it'd be tons cheaper doing an MA there, but of course it's level is completely different. I joined in with a couple of classes last week and it was like being back in the first or second your of uni

Switzerland's a great place though!

Edit: the wage is per hour btw

Ok I was considering that and this is one of the best and possibly hardest schools and it's seen as a Uni course as well. It's just amazing! You have to be fluent in either English or French to do it, so that's no problem for you
