Hello again guys.

Hope this hasn't already been asked, had a quick skim but couldn't find anything, does anyone know the dress code for a clinical visit? I am a guy btw, black shoes and trousers and a white shirt maybe? Do I need a tie? Never been in a clinical department before!

Thanks in advance.

P.S. to those who helped me earlier in the thread, yes this means I finally got a visit booked! Can't wait to start the course on the 16th! Happy days!

I'm surprised they haven't told you what to wear! Yes black trousers and shoes will be fine. White shirt should also be fine but they might give you a tunic to wear so you blend in more with the staff, at least that's what they do at my department.

Oh and don't bother with a tie!

Hi! I'll see you there I'm one of the second years who'll be showing you round

They'll ask you what RT is (surprisingly some applicants actually don't know the difference from diagnostics!) why you want to do it, what skills do you need for the job (ie communication, IT skills, team work, time keeping and prioritisation/organisation) and for examples of when you have done these. They might ask what other healthcare professionals you would expect to work with (Drs, specialist nurses, SALT, research and trials staff, admin staff - ie appointment schedulers/receptionists, porters, chemo staff - some patients need to have their chemo before/concurrently with RT). I had a question about how long I would expect patients to be on treatment for (longest is prostate at 7 weeks daily).

Mostly they are looking for 'the right type of person' (words of the admissions tutor!) so try and talk confidently even though you will be nervous and when they ask about why want to do RT make sure to say something about the patient care as well as the technology.

Hope that helps, feel free to PM me if you have any other questions

Hi
The best advice I can give is show your interest and be yourself. They want to know how you communicate with others.
Good luck x

I'm a first year at City London, incredible amount of work!

What were your choices (your first and second choice) and how are you finding City Uni London?

Im at the 'Reply to Offers' stage of my application for Radiotherapy, struggling to decide

Thanks :-)
Hey guys. Would be great if someone could let me know if there were any applicants that still got into the course with a slip of a grade. In really worried that this year I haven't done as well as I could've :frown:
I think it depends on the amount if interest in the course, with radiotherapy usually being a small intake (32 at Birmingham City) if they are over subscribed then I would think grades would make the difference. Saying that a friend of mine did get in with slightly lower grades than needed but I think that was probably because of the subjects she had taken at A level.
Hope this helps
Good luck x
Can I ask what ur predicted grades were?
I did an access course so my grading was different to A levels xx

hi everyone!

I have my first radiotherapy interview next week at Cardiff University! I've read through most of the thread and have seen the advice and tips given about radiotherapy and they've been super helpful.
I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on Cardiff Uni interviews in particular.

- Danni
Hey , if any of you are doing/ have done the PgDip at Sheffield Hallam id be really grateful if I could ask a few questions , either on the thread or mailbox
