Is anyone actually enjoying uni?

I've been reading a fair few discussions on here about people saying there are thinking of dropping out because they hate it, are depressed and have no friends etc. I am going to uni next year and all this talk about people hating it is really worrying me! Is anyone on here actually enjoying uni? Any personal experiences would be nice to hear (good or bad I guess)

I am going to Bournemouth btw, if anyone has any personal experiences from there.

Xx

almost everyone i ever hear talking about uni says it is amazing and many adults say uni days are the best of your life. People make threads about not enjoying uni because it is so unusual.

It depends, people have different experiences. Some get home sick, others don't like their group of friends, or they just feel depressed from the work load of their courses. My advice is that be prepared to do a lot of work, but also have a lot of fun. The people that have the most fun are the ones willing to go outside the comfort zones, and university life is an experience in its own right. I'm sure you'll be fine.

I'm loving it

The people having a good time at Uni are not posting about how good a time they're having on TSR... hence why it might seem like everyone hates Uni. I can assure you 95% of people go to Uni and have a great time, I'm sure you'll be fine.

Honestly, for me it's a rollercoaster of emotions xD

On one hand, going out, getting smashed, having adventures, and living the student life is pretty sweet. On the other hand, I'm still a loser like I was in high school, I get bouts of homesickness, struggle on some aspects of my course, and week after week of assessments, essays, and just general uni work takes the piss sometimes, especially coming from a job where once you finish for the day, you can forget about work =/ The other tough bit is flatmates. Some of my friends are in great flats where they're basically big, happy families, whereas some, including me, are in flats where people hardly speak to each other, piss each other off :/

However, most of the people I know love uni, or loved it if they finished, and on the whole I'm glad I came, as it's made me decide what I really want to do in life xD
Yeah. It's awesome.

As others are saying, it's a very small minority that doesn't enjoy uni.
It's wonderful, although I'd be enjoying it a lot more were I in bed right now instead of desperately attempting to finish an essay right now.
Yes, at first I was thinking of just dropping out or offing myself, but ultimately I found ways to cope (e.g. escapist daydreaming/fantasising) and ultimately I just pull myself through and remember that I'll be done in over a year and have a degree. So far, I'm on high 2:1 (possible 1st if I try harder), so my strange coping mechanisms are working. One of the reasons I'm particularly staying is because I don't yet have a thoroughly thought out alternative plan and I can't bare returning home to my family and not having a plan and moping about like an idiot.
I've got some experience in this case having been to not one but 2 universitys the first one I went to I truly wasn't happy there are many reasons why you might not be happy but people seem to mistake the side effects for the root cause I just didn't like the place and a string of bad results was dragging me down so I left just after the new year.

The next year I moved to a different town closer to home but not so near that I had to live at home. I went to a different university with a different approach and smaller classes and it suited me better.I was happier their having the fun everyone said i would so all was good and i graduated.

My point is some people choose the wrong university and are unhappy for some reason or other and a move may help but if you choose the right place you will have the time of your life every university is different.
I think a lot of people aren't enjoying uni on TSR because and i don't want to sound like an *******, but some people on here are socially retarded, they find it hard to socialise in the real world, they don't go out or like clubbing so they tend not to make friends, and i think a major component of liking uni is the friends that you make.
But then again some have good friends at uni but they do not like their course or don't like being away from home and being independant
I am
Love my course & most of my flatmates are awesome (apart from when they wake me up :unimpressed: ).

Most people enjoy uni, it's just that it'd be a bit pointless making a thread about it wheras pople who hate it are generally looking for advice/ want to rant. Don't worry, as long as you make a bit of an effort you'll likely have a good time at uni.
I've been a little homesick at times and tbh can't wait to go home for Christmas but that's not because there's anything wrong with uni- its more I really want to just relax and eat loads in my comfy clean house :p:

It's so unlikely you'll hate all of your flatmates that I wouldn't worry about it at all, even if you don't really get on that well you can make friends on your course/societies. I did drop out of university last year, my flatmates were brilliant but I realised I was doing the wrong course and money wise I was better off dropping out, reapplying & working for a few months to save up some money for my second attempt.

I wouldn't worry about it, just focus on getting a place and look forward to it!
