AQA Sociology Essay Structure

I'm currently struggling to work out an appropriate essay structure for my sociology exams. Is there a particular structure that someone can recommend for AQA Sociology AS and A2?

This is what my teacher recommends. Once you get the hang of it, you're fine :biggrin:

I've so far only done Unit 2: Education so it may be different for Unit 1 I'm not sure.

Introduction

-state why the question you're answering is important
-reference the item
-define key concepts
-state what you're going to do in the essay

Main Body (Part A)

Here you have to talk about all the studies which support the question, so it's simply

-point
-evidence (study)
-how it supports the statement

Main Body (Part B)

Here you will be evaluating the points you've made in Part A, by either talking about the studies which disprove the statement and talking about how the studies you mentioned in Part A are limited. Part B has to be shorter than Part A because here you're just evaluating, so don't go overboard and explain everything like in Part A. This section is important if you want to pick up AO2 marks.

Conclusion

Answer the question, and state why you have come to this decision (reference one or two of the studies).
