Cheapest way to install blinds / curtains

I've recently moved into a new (unfurnished) apartment only to realise there are no blinds installed!

Silly me for not making sure of this first, but I must have got too excited about moving to a new flat to notice.

I'm checking to see if the landlord can install them (Im only on a 6 month contract at the minute after all so the idea of forking out several hundred pounds seems ridiculous).

The thing is, it would cost a bomb if I were to pay for them myself. The living room windows alone are about 4m wide by 1.5m high. And the bedroom window is about half that size.

I imagine curtains would be the most sensible option. But does anyone have any ideas where I can get curtains / curtain poles as wide as 4m??

Or does anyone have ideas for the most sensible alternative?

Hmmm I'm thinking I could go with IKEA's curtain rods as apparently you can combine them.

But all of the curtains are only 145cm wide? Is it just me or is that incredibly thin? and 3m in length? Who has curtains that long??
