Percentage/marks equivalence

Good morning everybody.

Often in interviews, empoyees ask me for my grades. Since I'm quite new in the UK I still don't really understand the system. My university uses a 1-20 grade system, where 1 is the highest and 20 is the lowest. 1-4 is distinction, 5-8 is merit and so on. Now, they always ask me for grades in percentage.

How do I apply the equivalence?

PS: I am a Master's student

I know, I will! I was just wondering if this is a way of marking which is common in UK...

Plus I am not sure the relationship is linear, so I think it would be a mistake considering solely the increments. That is just my opinion, I appreciate your help!
