School turns away Muslim students. Was it right to do so?

I do not know what the game is here but this school is completely fictitious.

I don't get the issue here at all. it's no different to me moaning because the school insist that females wear skirts. (which I don't like wearing) Oh silly me, that's not much of a news story, is it?

It seems that Jihadwatch are looking to make up stories, just to provoke tensions and more hatred. So the story is entirely fictitious. Would rep, but considering I ran out, I gave rep via their profile.

It all makes sense. What school uses webs.com as a domain, and especially aboarding school? The entire school, the people, the article seem to be made up. It just goes to show how credible how credible Jihadwatch really is

it was definitely right. the school has a uniform and is demanding everybody wear it, it is not trying to discriminate it is treating everybody equally which is the ENTIRE POINT of school uniform. don't like it, don't apply

The school nor the people even exist  Just goes to show how credible Jihadwatch really is

It's a uniform, all the pupils have to wear it. If you don't like it, then don't apply there, and don't expect the rules to be changed specially for you. The school did the right thing.

haha really? I don't understand these people: if you have to lie to prove a point then your point is probably wrong

Well if you think about it, how many schools do you know who use a webs.com domain? And when you pay for a boarding school, you'd expect them to pay not to have the .webs.com part on their website

So likely to have been set up for the story, or someone made the site as an ironic thing and Jihadwatch took it and used it. Give them credit - if it doesn't exist, then no one from that organisation can complaint to them
The college isn't fake.

Here is the google maps location: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=SK10+4TX&hl=en&ll=53.280082,-2.259638&spn=0.001742,0.005284&sll=52.8382,-2.327815&sspn=6.638551,21.643066&hnear=SK10+4TX,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=18

and here is the picture provided from the website:

As you can see the campus name (yew tree) is on there and the road layout and train track layout match as far as i can see, it's much more likely that Google maps haven't bothered to do a full survey of Alderley nether as it is a pretty rural place. As for league tables and such a lot of private schools don't take part in them for various reasons.

It seems to be a tiny boarding college whose students are probably the children of previous students, not having a decent website or being on Google street view isn't exactly proof and seeing as they have various mentions most noticeably on the Wikipedia page there is a reference to a book wrote in 1990 which mentions the school so it seems pretty unlikely that they are made up for whatever reason.

Also a bit more browsing pulled up this thread from April:
http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=226331

As you can see the thread starter lists her college as de Wyche and in fact that user has been active for a fairly long while well before any of this stuff happened so i am inclined to believe that this is not a hoax.
I was completely fooled ! very clever hoax but how sad is that!

This is a private house called Yew Tree Cottage.

http://houseprices.landregistry.gov.uk/sold-prices/sk10+4tx

You will see that it changed hands in 1996 despite the "school" supposedly being on this site since 1583.

You will see that I referred to various places where evidence of this school should exist but doesn't.

Well thank you to the person who researched the report and found out it was fictitious. My response wasn't really directly related to the story at all, but more of a general response to the idea of Muslims not entering a uniformed school, which does happen, regardless of the fiction in this particular case.
Oddly the college website now seems to be "down"

if you go on staelite view over the yew tree map label you can see the school, tennis court and all pretty much exactly as it is shown on the website. It's a mapping error.

The school is perfectly real.
If you don't like the uniform, that's your problem.

That is exactly what I have been looking at. There are two private houses. One of them is a barn conversion. I assume that this is the one known as Wyche Barn. You can see its conservatory to the west. Behind it there is a modern single artificial tennis court. At the front there is another house. I suspect that is Yew Tree Cottage itself with another single tennis court.

I have the difficult task on occasion of explaining to people that ethey havve been taken in by a fraudster. Almost invariably they wish to believe in the truth of what they have been told despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

When I initially looked at the school website, there were various things that worried me. What first drew my attention to it was the seemingly excessive level of games particularly bearing in mind that the school had no public reputation in sport such as Millfield, Kelly College or the northern "sporty" schools such as Sedbergh. When I looked at the school's website, it said that it charged no fees, relying on endowments. Even for a small school that would have put it in the Christ's Hospital, Horsham league for wealth which surprised me. Then I looked at the school's history which didn't work. The school claimed to be of a very early foundation comparable with King's Canterbury, but again I had not heard of it. Yet there was no mention in the school history of the switch from being a boys' school to being a girls' school which would surely have been the most significant event in its history. So I googled it and finding nothing worthwhile set out to look for the "footprint" of where the school ought to be recorded. There was nothing.

That is thing you have not addressed. It isn't recorded with the Post Office, with Ofsted or on the local exams league table. Indeed the only places it is recorded are on sites to which any member of the public can contribute such as Wikipedia. There are references to other publications in Wikipedia but have you checked the accuracy of those references?

I'm not disputing the property names i'm disputing the impression you are giving that this is not a school, you can clearly see the old college which i suspect was at one point the entirety of the school and later expanded out to take over the property that was already there. The school not being well known is not grounds for you to claim it doesn't exist, many schools are not well known and boarding schools like this have a reputation of being incredibly cut off when it comes to the outside world.

So according to this idea you have, this school concept is constructed by some elaborate pranksters who commission over head shots (the image on their website is not from Google maps) probably at the cost of a few hundred quid. They then to plan for this amazing prank by setting up a fake account on a mythology website in 2011 pretending to be a girl from this school as well as hiring 40 girls to model in a location that looks very very similar to the area they claim to have the school in order to take photos to make the whole thing more convincing. And this was to achieve what? make Muslims look bad? no offense but you don't need to go to all that effort to achieve that.

The school is again mentioned in passing here and here both well before this story came out. As for the post office looking at the location they may well not deliver to them (in that situation mail is usually collected from a local post office) which could explain why they aren't on file, Ofsted only inspect around half of independent schools so i'm guessing they are in the half that aren't expected and as for exam results i have no idea why they aren't shown, they may not wish them to be, they may not do a levels and instead do something like the IB.

The website is currently down i suspect because of a massive increase in the amount of traffic its getting and according to some less than reputable websites there are safety concerns for the pupils over this incident however i'm sure when it is back up you will be able to make contact with them if you want to definitively prove the place is real.

I know this is a huge generalisation and is most definitely racist, but these muslims REALLY piss me off. Yes I know they are not all like that, but it can't be a coincidence that almost every piece of negative news about a religious group is about muslims.

Right because they're delibaretly trying to get negative things said about them on the news. No just no. Shut up.

Please find me any evidence of this school's existence in the 1500 years prior to the construction of this school's Wikipedia page on 14th November 2011.

What is the school's telephone number, fax number or charity registration number? Why has it never applied for planning permission to alter its buildings? Find me any reference to the school's headmistress. Find me any reference on Friends Reunited. Who are its governors? Find me any biography on Linkedin, Facebook, Mumsnet or whatever that refers to being an alumna of the school.
They were absolutely right to refuse. I don't go down to my local halal butchers and ask them if they can start selling pork chops...
