Criminology? Dissertation - Immigration and crime

Not sure if this is the right place to post it, but there is no sub-forum for criminology (and doubt there ever will be) so yeah..
I am deciding on my dissertation topic, and would like to hear some advice...
thinking of doing it on immigration and crime, so the whole question would be "How does eastern european immigration affect UK crime rates"

Do you think it's too descriptive? Should I do just "immigration" not eastern european immigration, cause Im afraid there won't be enough information on just eastern european immigration to write my 10000 word research project... but I may be wrong.
Also a dissertation has to be useful to "readers" as far as I know, and in my final piece of work I have to present something not yet discovered on the topic (well, ideally).. Im struggling to understand if this is the case tbh..

either way, any advice, comments and critique are welcome, thanks..
