Not sure that I'm at the right uni-doing the right course

I'm part way through my first year at university and I'm really not enjoying it. I've not really made any friends, I'm not enjoying my course as much as I thought I would and I'm starting to wonder whether or not this particular degree will actually be any use for what I want to do...

Is there anything I can do about it? Do you think maybe this is just normal jitters?
Definite case of the December blues. Most people won't have made friends for life yet, it's just acquaintance making and getting your guards down before christmas.

See how you feel in the next term, and realistically ask yourself if you can see yourself writing a dissertation on this subject. Remember that the first year is extremely primitive stuff to make sure everyone is on the same level, and isn't really a good reflection of your course, it's done to encourage the weaker students to drop out.
