Being an international student from Hong Kong, I can say with confidence that SOAS is prestigious in Asia.

Here, ordinary people only know Oxbridge, and perhaps LSE, and definitely SOAS. SOAS is even more prestigious in Mainland China.

Durham, warwick, St. Andrews, Nottingham, Birmingham, Machester, Edinburg, are generally not in people's mind. Most of them have not even heard of these unis. They may know the cities but not the unis.

My conclusion is therefore SOAS is suitable for Asia-oriented jobs.
Any degree from SOAS will have a good reputation, especially in Africa, the Middle East and Asia (Im also originally from Hong Kong). Most graduates from SOAS aim to work for NGOs, governments and non-profit international organisations, but I suspect that quite a few also go into finance and business. All types of organisations whether corporate or not need specialists in non-western countries, especially now in China which is why Im doing my masters at SOAS. I cant say its exactly the same for Africa/Middle East but there's no reason why it not. Hope that helps!
