The Student Room Group

What should I do?!

Currently doing an HNC in Mechanical Engineering and doing an apprenticeship as a Tool Room Engineer however I really am not happy where I am.

Especially at work I am depressed, the reason why I want to quit my HNC half way is because I have had enough of the college layout.

I guess I just want to go university as asoon as poissible. I'm 19, 20 in July and I feel like I am missing out so much, my social life at home is little to nothing.

I seriously hate my town. It's just so run down and I would do anything just to leave this place, I don't think I can bare another year here.

But if I quit after my first year of the HNC, I don't have the HNC qualification that is quite rewarding in itself and help me get into a good course at uni.

At the same time I found a course which I can get on with my BTEC National Diploma grades.

I would carry on with your course for this year at least. Submit an application to the unis that you have found that will accept your grades.
Are you enjoying engineering? If so, definitely carry on the HNC.
