Audiologist (Healthcare Science)

Heya, I'm looking for information about becoming an Audiologist, and in particular the BSc in Healthcare Science (Audiology). Is anyone here interested in studying this degree with the aim of being an Audiologist? What information do you have about the degree and career?

Many thanks

I'm interested.. I personally think it is interesting and a good career. However, I strongly suggest getting some work experience as you spend alot of time yourself and some it is very very tedious. However, you interact with different types of people and ultimately, you're changing a person's life. It's quite specialised and you can locum as an audiologist which is ideal for alot of people. Also, you can work in nhs or private sector.. there's a few other threads on here for audology so check them out.

Have you had specific work experience shadowing an audiologist? The work looks like it has its ups and downs, but the job satisfaction looks amazing.

Are you aware if the NHS still fund the course? I could be wrong but it seems that they do not, anymore.

Yes i shadowed in the private sector and the nhs. enjoyed it. Yes you're right, ups and downs as with any job i guess. The nhs do not fund the course any more. The entire course has gone through changes. All the information is on university websites.

Awesome, sounds like you have had some excellent work experience. I am debating between Dietetics and Audiology, both seem really interesting but I've only had work experience with a Dietitian... It's a shame that the NHS do not fund the course anymore, I really don't want to pay for a degree in healthcare. Thanks for your responses, and best wishes for your future career!
