Damn I think diamond is crystalline :frown: Do you get deducted for every wrong point you make or is it ignored? Also, If you state physics that is correct but not in the right questions along with physics that is correct for the question in long explanation questions, do you still get marks? If you get me? I think I lost 15-20 marks :shot:

You never get 'deducted'. It'll probably be ignored. But if you've given other reasons using 'being crystalline' as a reason those will be ignored too even if they're technically right.

Am I the only 'girl' here? Now I understand why this test was hard for me. They should give extra 2 marks to any girls sitting this crazy paper. Haha. #

I kid ^_^

I'm a girl!

for the definition of a semiconductor I said that it is a material that exhibits properties of a metal and a nonmetal :s-smilie: I also said polycrystalline Is a material with both amorphous and crystalline regions :s-smilie: And I said that the conductivity of a semi conductor can be modified by "doping" by adding different atoms of elements to it :s-smilie:

Past years to get an A:
Jan 10: 40
Jun 10: 40
Jan 11: 38
Jun 11: 46
Jan 12: 45
Jun 12: 45

I think grade boundaries for today's would be ~42.

I put 8. You divide the total voltage (1.2) by the resolution (5mv) and that gets you how many alternative you need and then you take the Log to the base 2 to find the number of bits. Thats what I did and I got 7.97 and rounded it to 8.

What did you get for the oscillations per pulse and the frequency one before it?

I also got 7.97, and rounded it to 8. Was that question 3 marks?

Your little sign is for a male one though:/ Lol.

Grade boundaries can fluctuate hugely depending on how difficult the paper was.

Why are we typing in large fonts? Lol. Oh and my bad, it was indeed 34. I think I clicked on June 10 twice:unimpressed:.

Next to your name. The blue arrow thing. When you hover over it, it says you're a male. LOL

So people weren't misled, and could find the grade boundaries set out by OCR.

It was 3 marks I believe. I got 7.97; however, surely you should round down?

blog2(vtotalvnoise) b \leq \log_2 (\frac{v_total}{v_noise})
b7.97... b \leq 7.97...
b=7 b = 7

I thought you were always supposed to round down as (in terms of a signal) you could capture unwanted noise if you digitise with too many bits per sample

I personally put 7 as my final answer (with 7.97 in my workings), but I'm sure I've seen in a past paper this done somewhere.

Only 1 mark lost I suppose (or at least I hope), but it could be the difference between an A and a B :-(

I think that our paper was harder than Jan 10. Anyone else think the same?
