I'm filling out a direct debit mandate form, and I'm really confused. What is the reference number? It is for an open learning course. I've checked the emails from them, and the letters, and there's no reference number. Is it the card number? My bank is Halifax. Please help I need to get the form sent of by today. I've been searching online for agesss but I can't find a single explanation as to what the reference number is.

Leave it blank It's often a "For Office Use Only" field.

If in doubt, ring the OU for advice
