Congrats! I hope you meet it, is this for a UK uni?

I'm thinking of applying in my final year for this course or MPhil Economics but I ideally would only like a conditional of 65/67.

A 65 condition for Cambridge is exceptionally rare, and you would have to have a completely stellar application otherwise. I think that with the exception of someone who is a current Cam undergrad, all the economics department offers reported so far this year have been conditional on a first.

Even for Mphil Economics not Finance and Economics?
My academic profile is very ordinary/not great imo.

Study BSc Economics at good Russell group uni averaging around 70 after jan exams in 2nd year with one poor mark of 52. 63 average in 1st year with a few 2.2 modules.
However on my course 68 is a discretionary 1st and 68.5 is a 1st, but I doubt they will take that into account.

I think achieving above 67 average in my final year will be incredibly difficult and even 65 will be a struggle. But I've heard some places like imperial set only a 2.1 overall as a condition. Oh well, I may as well apply next year and just see what happens.

Yes, "even" for MPhil Economics. This is Cambridge after all! Bear in mind that courses that say "minimum 2:1" often actually give higher conditions, and at any decent uni you will be in competition with many applicants who are predicted firsts. I would just give it all you have and aim for that first... You've already improved from first year to second year, after all.

I said even because I saw someone post that 65 was normal for straight Eco but 67 above for finance and Eco.

No 2:1s seem normal for either of these courses this year. And 65 for Eco sounds very low - it's low for Cambridge in general, where those courses that offer 2:1s usually specify 67, but also speaking from experience (previous offer for this course though i didnt attend, and knowing quite a few people who have done it) the vast majority had firsts at undergrad, even before the apparent increase in competition this year. And it makes sense - if you as a dept say minimum 2:1, but (e.g) half or more of the applicants have a first, you'll normally take those.

Also bear in mind that the Economics department specifically asks that referees provide an indication of the class rank of the applicant, implying that they are looking for applicants at or near the top of their cohorts: "It would be helpful if applicants could request their referees to include some indication of the applicant's ranking, either relative to the student’s year group, or relative to the best qualified students in the referee’s experience. "

If you are attending a "good Russell group uni", admission tutors will take into account the fact that grading is not as lenient as in other universities, so I think you should go ahead and apply anyway. As for grade conditions, why don't you just give your best shot anyway and see how it goes?

Yeah I will do, thanks.

quick question:
Does anyone know of any top EU or even US business schools which offer a MSc/MA program in Finance/Economics without a GMAT/GRE requirement?
I would really like to apply to the MSc Finance at SSE and RSM but I have no time to take the GMAT over the summer as I am working.

Don't know about Europe but you won't find any graduate course in the US that doesn't require GRE or GMAT.

Do you think GMAT is important when applying? Thank you

Strange question? - they require GRE for non-UK graduates and specifically state the GMAT is not acceptable as an alternative. Your undergrad grades and what you did in undergrad as per the entrance requirements would be more important anyway I would think. Have you looked at their website?
HI Shall we create a facebook pagwe for those who want to join this programme?

and anyone is looking for flat?
Hi, I am entering an economics essay competition and I think the best way to write it is to do it in a journal article style. However, I do not know the structure a journal article is written so if you have any idea could you please help me.

A journal article style may not be the best way if you think so could you please state what way is and the a genral structure I could use.

For anyone wondering my essay question is, "Is the concept of Socialism as an economic theory viable, both theoretically and practically? What about Communism? ". So if you have got any tips please respond.

Received a condition of 67% in my final year, for the MPhil Economics program (2011/12 entry)... Not sure whether things have changes since then...
