What words do I need?!

Hello everyone!

I'm currently attempting to write my Coursework for English Lit and I'm currently talking about the use of aural imagery in both Birdsong and Journey's End and how this emphasises the key idea of the texts' relationship with war. My argument is that Birdsong shows a negative relationship (obviously) because I have a quote from a critic to show how when there are no birds it provides a premonition to the end of the world, significant as soldiers believed the first day of the Battle of the Somme would be that for them and was. I need a better word than negative though, but, I can't think of one.

Also, Journey's End personifies the aural imagery showing how men and war are similar, I would say symbiosis, but, that is too strong, so another word is needed...

Please help!!  THANK YOU!

I've thought of synergy/syngerism for the positive relationship, if people think that is okay? A negative word though?!

Thank you. :')
