Same here... but I literally ran out of time when I wrote "r = -3"

Looking at other people's answers, I definately didn't do as bad as I did last year.

Except for the last log question, I got k = 0.0113 and a = 44.48... Screw it, I better get method marks.

You got k right from the looks of things, and a was about that, but I dont think you needed to figure out a anyway? just loga
in the last question i think the year was 2014?? or 2016

Problem was, I just couldn't find a simple way to do it! In the end, I ended up doing simultaneous equations to work out k from the table in the question, then found out a using that. I knew last minute revision was never a good idea.

Also, that "what was the population at 1960?" question threw me off, thinking I needed to know the value of a and k exactly... with 5 minutes left of the exam. Oh what fun.

....Okay I got 2008 D:
Yeah the last question threw me, closest answer I got was t=119 so yeah according to my calculations the population hit 200 million in 2079...

I recalling seeing is somewhere...
I did not like that one haha I got 90 degrees haha

I got that! Did Sin2Ѳ+SinѲ=1
Then SinѲ(SinѲ+1)=1
SinѲ=1 or SinѲ=0
Sin-11=90

if sinѲ was 1 then SinѲ(SinѲ+1) wouldnt be one it would be 2 :/
if it was 0 then
SinѲ(SinѲ+1) would be 0 :s-smilie:

Yes but I chose to ignore that fact as I couldn't think of anyway to do it,
I will get ecf marks if it's not correct though
Hey sat this exam today and thought it was good...!

Section A was amazing i thought... (not boasting...)but i'm really confident with all my answers...

but then came section B....

With the integration i worked out the area under the curve between x=3 and x=4 and got 4/3 and that was all fine... but i forgot to add the triangle area onto my answer ...doh!

If i did the integration bit ok surely that was the harder part and i won't lose too many marks by forgetting to add the triangle's area???!

Then i couldn't get the 5 marker on geometric sequences... which was annoying cos i revised that!

Then the last question was ok... by the sound of things i got the same answers as everyone on here which is reassuring... y intercept = loga=1.68 and the gradient k=0.0116 or something.. and i got the initial population as around 46.47 million or something..??

I couldn't get the last 3 marker though :frown:

Really want an A in maths... cos i need it to do economics at uni.... wanted to improve on 77UMS...

please reassure me! haha
I am such an idiot! On the last question I forgot to add my t to 1960 😠
And for my intercept I got 1.7, you think it might be out of the range??

I'd think you'd get away with that, because it really depends on your best fit line
It took me ages to do the "perpendicular distance of chord AB from O" considering its worth 2 marks...after about five minutes I realised the triangle was isosceles so bisected the angle and used the Sine rule after converting 1.2 radians to degrees, and got something like 2.4cm I think...
I don't think I drew the best line of fit :frown: I really wanted to do well in it! It's so frustrating !

SinѲ=1 or SinѲ=0
Sin-11=90

Sin2Ѳ+SinѲ=1
Sin2Ѳ+SinѲ-1= 0

(-b ±√b2-4ac)/2a

(-1 ±√1-4*1*-1)/2

(-1 + √5)/2 = SinѲ (I couldn't get the minus one to work @_@)

sin^2Q+sinQ-1=0 [replace with "y"]

y^2+y-1=0 [Quadratic formula]

y= (-1+sqr5)/2 or y=(-1-sqr5)/2 <--can forget the second one..inapplicable

providing that y=sinQ

sin^-1(-1+sqr5)/2 = 38.17

180-38.17= 141.82

180+38.17= 218.17

360 - 38.17 = 321.83

38.17, 141.82, 218.17, 321.83 are the solutions.... i think!
Can anybody remember the questions asked in the last question about logs? How many marks were there? Also, does anybody think the grade boundaries for this paper will be low this year? Like around 50?

Thanks in advance to anyone who answers my question.

I got 2.89 cm...
the angle was 1.2 radians so I halved it to make 0.6
then multiplied by (180/pi) which got me 34.37 degrees
Then cos(34.37) = a/h ... adjacent was the distance we wanted and hypotenuse was the radius (which i got 3.5cm for)
so 3.5cos(34.37) = a = 2.89cm

was my answer
For the sin question I got -90 and 270, is this right ?

This just represents my life. All the past papers for C2- averaging >90 UMS. This paper- already know I've lost about ten marks.

Well I got it wrong evidently but the limits were 0 to 360 inclusive
