Sachs and bards theory uses the case study of a boy named Jim. His parents were deaf but he was not. To aid his language acquisition they'd leave the tv and radio on but his speech remained retarded. It was only when he started to see a speech therapist that his speech improved. This shows that we need input to help our speech develop.
