Thanks very much!

Has anyone sent you a c4 paper yet?

Thanks a lot sir!

How would you judge the difficulty of the paper, from an expert-teaching point of view? :wink:

Unfortunately not.
Think I got around 55; any ideas on what that will be as a grade? :smile:

This is going to sound mighty big-headed but it all seems easy to me so I'm probably not the best person to judge.

There were a couple of twists that might have thrown some candidates.

Probably a high B.

Obviously i'm just a year 12 and probably know very little but that would probably be a B, unless the grade boundaries will go as low as 55 for an A.

Why is 6ii 64?? I got r=3/4 so 8/(1-3/4)=32

Looking back at the paper, I can agree with you slightly. But parts of questions 6,7, 8 and 9 all had some tricky elements which would throw a lot of candidates off wouldn't it?

You have to admit, compared to past papers, this one had greater potential to throw off candidates :tongue:

a=16 not 8. The G.P. was 16, 12, 9 ...

Sinfinity = a / 1-r

= 16 / 0.25

= 64

A = 2x, not x :P

Yeah it was definitely harder than any OCR past paper that I did!

Ahh of course thanks :smile:, I suppose I can live with losing a mark
Thanks very much!

For 8iv I did:

log2(x-3) - log2x = 4
log2(x-3)/x = 4
(x-3)/x = 2^4
(x-3)/x = 16
(x-3) = 16x
-1/5 = x
-1/5 = c

Reckon I'd get a few method marks even though the final answer is most likely wrong?

Is that the only mark you lost :O

There was some odd stuff there but I don't think any of it was particularly hard just unfamiliar. This might have put off people who did lots of past papers but didn't know the content of the specification all that well.

Yup. I averaged around 62 after doing 15 past papers. Now after today, I think I picked up around 40-44 marks :frown:

Guess it's the exam pressure or that I can't apply my maths fully enough!

Oh well! Well done to you for smashing it :biggrin:

Spoken like a true teacher :tongue:

It's true though, very true. Need to change my revision methods for sure next time. Thanks a lot :smile:
