also i dont think it matters if your mentally ill if youve killed someone you should be killed too!
Of course it matters if you're mentally ill you moron.

If you're mentally ill you are not in full control of your actions are you? There's a basic principle in criminal law of Actus Reus and Mens Rea. If you are mentally ill there's a good chance that the latter won't apply to you.

You still have consioness, fair enough theres several dieases of the mind that can be overlooked, but most... do not really matter. I the ones that should be overlooked shoud be cared for in the first place

Many diseases of the mind bring with them a significantly lessened degree of conscience, awareness of right and wrong, and ability to emphasize with other humans.

I agree that these people should be cared for in the first place but that's not the point.

If a hungry lion escapes from a zoo he might devour a child. That's not the lion's fault. Similarly, if a psycopath (who should be under care for his safety and the safety of others but isn't) who is for whatever roaming the streets he might kill someone. That isn't his fault either.

Quite. And that's why very few public defenders in murder cases bother raising the defence of being mentally ill. It's not nearly as common as you might believe.

Back to the title of the thread
i think he should undoubtably be excuted in the most brutal way possible, he admitted murder and deserves no sympathy or easier option.. and its not going to cost 7G$ to give him the chair

Notice I never said parole or bail, I said lock them up.

Also, figures on the death penalty in America prove the death penalty is NOT a deterrant.
Figures also show that NO punishment to date is a deterrent.
