My Lenovo laptop, which is running Windows 8, will not play sound through my headphones. The speakers work just fine but when my headphones are in the jack no audio plays through them, just through the speakers. Any help?
Possibly a fault with the headphone jack itself. Where did you get it from?
I'm assuming because it's Windows 8 it's less than three/four months old, I'd take it back to where you got it from and get them to exchange it for you.

Does anything pop up when you insert the headphone?
Find the G580 in the select product bit, and download and install the audio driver. And probably the rest as the current drivers would be outdated, and pick windows 8 64bit. http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?

Nope, nothing pops up. I'll have a look.
Thanks

It might be the sound settings -> "Realtek Digital Output" may not be enabled in "Playback Devices." Right click, and make sure "show disabled devices" is ticked.
If you have any difficulties, just quote me on this thread.
I doubt it would be a hardware problem on such a new laptop.
