For Q6v, how am I supposed to know if its thrust or tension.

thanks in advance
Since braking force is applied i think the answer would be thrust . (dont know whether correct or not)

Why are you doing pastpapers from 2005 ?? Is the pattern still same ?? I am doing edexcel and they dont care about tension /thrust much ..

It's thrust.

Think about when a car breaks, the trailer will have some "pushing" force onto the Car, so there is thrust in the towbar.
When a system expels or accelerates mass in one direction, the accelerated mass will cause a force of equal magnitude but opposite direction on that system. The force applied on a surface in a direction perpendicular or normal to the surface is called thrust .
