I got a 9 which basically means my writing can be read by people who are 13-14 and higher. On another piece of work I got 6.7 - which means 10+ :colondollar:

What grade level is your writing?

I just checked a random assignment I did for uni and got 12.2 which means people around 17-18 and up.

Just checked a recent essay and got 18.6...if that means what I think it means then :woo:

Checked a 1st year essay and got 16.2...not sure whether I've improved enough or not

Now I'm obsessively checking all essays and see if they correlate with the marks I received for them... :sigh:
13.2 on my latest practical report, don't know what it means.

Obviously it's going to be higher for your uni work, it may be a lot different to your true and most natural writing style.

Last essay I did: 9.9
Natural writing: 8.6

This is very interesting. My physics and chemistry essays have averages of around 12, but my history essays have an average of 16-17.

Reading Ease 37.0
Grade Level 13.3

I assume that since this was my dissertation with tables and references that this is highly biased.

48.5
11.3

From another uni piece.

Let me find my IB extended esssay:
46.7
12.3

How do we calculate it on word 2007?

My personal statement for my uni application got 12.3, my covering letter for my job application got 9.5.
I did spend a hell of a lot longer on my PS than covering letter so seems legit
My most recent essay:

Reading ease = 3.8
Grade Level = 19.5
What about Word 2007??

Mine was a page of equations.

It didn't work. :frown:

11.7

If anyone's interested in what it means (from searching Microsoft's help)...

Spoiler

My chemistry coursework is currently
Reading ease 50.8
Grade level 10.2
Personal statement: Reading ease 25.0, Grade level 16.7
A2 History coursework: Reading ease 11.9, Grade level 20.9
School article I wrote in which I was vaguely rying to be accessible to teenagers: Reading ease 44.2, Grade level 13.7 (well, that possibly failed)

So, er...this means that nobody really understands anything I write? Oh dear.

I think people need to stop getting excited. It's one thing to be able to read something and completely something else to actually understand it.

That's strange. For the Flesch-Kincaid measure, it now says the reading ease for my essay is 12.8 and the grade level is 21.
Haha my ramblings have an Ease of 0.0 and a Grade Level of 128.4! What the hell was I doing?
