Why the animosity to people who's parents help them?
Have read a few threads on this topic and there seems to be a lot of animosity on TSR towards those who's parents are helping them out financially through university.
Why is this?
From discussions I've had with mates at my uni I'd estimate around 80% of students are receiving some form of parental help, whether it be by directly paying their accommodation for them, or giving them money to help out with living costs.
Furthermore, this is the way the system is set up. Those from better off families get less help from student finance BECAUSE the onus is on their parents to "bridge the gap".
Yet on TSR those from better off households who get help from their parents seem to be looked down on for some reason.
