Welsh Learners' Society

Shwmae everyone!

I doubt this thread will ever pick up, but if there are any fluent Welsh speakers out there, I'd love it if you'd help out here :colondollar:

I myself have numerous Welsh lessons but we aren't ever taught how to speak or write!!!

So this thread is for those who are learning, or want to learn!

Shwmae pawb!

My Welsh is both fluent and shoddily colloquial. The fact that this is in the "Foreign Languages" subforum annoys me

"I speak Welsh, I went to a Welsh school but I've lost the language since leaving school"

It's good enough, I suppose

Yeah, it was the lost it since leaving school part which I couldn't figure out. My Welsh isn't really amazing  as it's just GCSE level .

Dwi'n iawn am rwan, diolch  A tithau?

Negate sentences? If the positive statement is "rydw i yn ____", the negative is "dydw i ddim yn ____"

"Roeddwn i yn arfer mynd i ysgol Gymraeg ond rydw i wedi colli'r iaith ers gadael" Still got the gist of it well enough though!

Dda

What about things like:

Byddaf i'n mynd yr ysgol

Ooh, sadly, my conjugation isn't as good as it should be. You can say "Ni fyddaf yn mynd" but that's a bit less colloquial. Might stick out  "Byddaf i ddim yn mynd" might work too.

Should? I'd say "dylwn". Like "dylwn i adael" - I should leave

This makes me realise just how substandard my Welsh is

I'm hopeless with these kinds of things. Google Translate thinks I'm right though
