MSci Biology

Is anybody doing a Master's degree in Biology or Biological Sciences, if so, let me know how it is? I really want to go to UCL and do Biology. Also, please let me know what you did for A Levels and what grades you achieved?

The Msci really isn't much different from the BSc, only difference is that in your 3rd year you HAVE to do a literature project (so its like a literature review of journals) and then in your 4th year you do the research project (spend time in lab doing experiments get results and write up)
In terms of modules you do in the 3/4 year, they're pretty much the same (you can't repeat any modules but you're allowed to select from pretty much the same list, a few extra in the 4th year, not too many though)

I only did the Bsc, but have friends on the MSci (they're currently in their 4th and final year). There's no real point in asking what grades people got, as the grade requirements have gone up over the years, but I got in with AAB (at the time was only asked for ABB).

Also throughout the course you can choose to switch from the BSc to the MSci anytime before your 3rd year, and if you're on your MSci, you can choose that you don't want to do the 4th year anymore (up to and even during your 3rd year) and graduate that year if you like. I think the only requirement is that you average a 2.1 (60%, you may think this is easy as you're probably used to getting 100% in A levels, but 60% isn't DIFFICULT but is by no means easy to achieve)

Remember you can also specialise into different areas after 1 year:
biological sciences----->biology of cells pathway, biology of organisms and general biological sciences
Human genetics
human genetics
zoology
environmental biology

Can be difficult to change speciality after 2nd year, depends which modules you pick
