Gaining GCSE Sciences after school?

So I had no goals and hated school, I was stupid enough to drop out. I entered college where I did level 2 BTEC music and I am currently halfway through my first year of my extended diploma in music, however I chose music as it's what I enjoy, not what I want to work in. I've recently discovered that I would love to study Outdoor Education in uni, which requires an extended diploma in Sports Science, PE or Leisure studies (available where I am now at Newcastle College) or A-Level Geograph, Physics, Chemistry or Physics. I would much prefer to do the scientific subjects at A-Level, however I don't have the GCSEs required. Is there any way I could gain the neccesarry GCSEs (B in dual award Science) apart from having to spend a year re-sitting them? I've had the opportunity to get Maths and English during my current diploma.
I'm planning on doing the edexcel certificate in science: http://www.edexcel.com/quals/igcse/edexcel-certificate/science/Pages/default.aspx

I'm going to do the individual subjects, but from what i can gather double award is the first paper in the 3 subjects.Have a look at the specification for double award in that link. I'm planning on teaching myself with revision guides and workbooks off of amazon, videos on youtube by teachers, and i'll probably get a tutor, even if only for a couple of lessons to go over stuff before the exams.

Although there are no coursework or practicals, you are expected to have knowledge of practicals and be able to interpret the data. I'm not sure what i'm going to do about that yet, i've consulted one college who charge £30ph in a group or £50ph individually to go over stuff in a lab before the exam.

I'm guessing you don't want to enter in May/June? If so then the next exams are January, then May/June.

You'll need to find an exam centre to take you as a private candidate.

According to that link the nearest to me is over 100miles away and i live in a big city, so i'm going to be contacting local schools and colleges first. Their fees can vary massively so you might want to familiarize yourself with what edexcel charges first (obviously it can cost them to accommodate you so do expect a fee):

I just came across this thread. I am a tutor who teaches Physics and Biology. I teach in London so if you need any help, please revert back. I charge 30ph for an individual session and since I have taken my GCSE exams a couple of years ago to successfully passing with an A in all subjects including the sciences, you can be rest assured that I will give you the best in my capacity.
