Simplifying a surd q

How do I work out 1/2 x ((root)490/2)) x (root)10? I've forgotten some of the surd rules I think, can you just ordinarily divide the root of 490 by 2? The answer is 17.5 but I don't understand how.

The main bit is the 490. Look at the factors of that and split it up. From there is gets quite easy.
490=710\sqrt{490}=7\sqrt{10}
