Rep does mean a lot to me. I feel good if I get positive rep. I left a forum I posted on tonnes because after around 3 years, and generating around 12,000 posts, a hacker deleted everyones rep count.

Didn't have any motivation anymore to be on it, so I think it can be a good thing.

If I'm posting good stuff, positive rep. Bad stuff? Negative rep, obviously, but I don't see the need in negative repping something, because I was being positive about what someone had said.
If anything, it shows some people on here are homophobics, because I stated I liked the comment of a girl who is into girls. So...
