Applying for PhD, but Master's degree GPA...sigh.

Hi, I am currently doing a master's degree and applying for PhD.

The matter that tackles me is the GPA of the master course.

I am applying for the uni that I did undergraduate, so I have a strong supportive supervisor.

But I am worried that the requirements for PhD are expected as distinction or merit, but I don't think I can get those.

My q is : does master's degree really matters if I get a fairly good mark for Master's dissertation?

I have not submitted my application, but any recommendations for offsetting the low master's GPA?

Do you have a good undergraduate degree result? Is there any way that it might offset a lower Masters result? When I applied for my PhD, the process asked for a First at undergrad, a Masters in a relevant subject (no grade specified) and strong references.

With support from your supervisor and their good reference, you might find that you're still in a decent position to apply. I'd think that your supervisor wouldn't be supporting you if they thought that you had no chance of being accepted, as it would make them look bad.
