Brief SPSS Question

Hi guys, I have a quick question regarding SPSS.

Essentially, my sample is split on one independent variable (Condition) with 3 levels. I also have another independent variable (Gender) with 2 factors. There's one dependent variable (scores).

I ran a two-way ANOVA to see if there is any gender effects on scores. The results gave me no significance for Gender * Condition, but it gave me large significance on Gender.

I want to try and find out which level of Condition is Gender is significant, so I split the file by condition and ran a one-way ANOVA three times (once for each condition) but found no significance.

Does this mean I've done something wrong? Or does it simply mean that there is a significance in gender overall, but not in any specific condition?

Thanks.
