Universities with a reasonable game development course

I have looked at several universities, with me finding imperial as the only ones which provide a good course, I know this is a very competitive field which requires and thus needs a competitive course but most courses I find are like this http://www.mdx.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/art_design/3Danimation_games_ba.aspx mostly art and design based rather than mathematically based, so is anyone able to recommend any universities other than imperial?

Wouldn't Comp Sci be the most appropriate degree tbh? or even a general Maths degree. It depends if you want a maths based course or not, but specialist courses such a film and tv or game development courses etc do not usually lead into instant employment

If I fail at getting to Imperial's course then I will have to take some pure mathematics or computer science course, but I made this topic to find universities with similar courses to imperial, because that course is mostly mathematical based, with a few specialized topics.

Oh fair do's, you could do a mixture of comp-sci and the imperial course; though one thing to consider is what kind of uni do you want to, so far the only uni I've seen do game development at a high level is Imperial.

A quick google search might help you find more options!

Skillset accredited courses are well respected in the industry:

Also this is more mathsy/comp science:

the computer industry is wierd in this particular case

they prefer tthe whole master of one that games dev gives to the jack of all of com sci

this means they dont have to spend time teaching you how to transfer your knowledge to the games etc

so in this particular case it is the correct course of action

Check out the courses at Abertay, in Dundee

there's three computer games courses to choose from so one of them should be what you're looking for

Lots of applied maths on the CGT course at Abertay, both pen and paper like in school and in pretty much all of the project work in one form or another. See below for a list of topics that I studied on the course (excluding personal investigations for coursework).
