They'd fire the missile, then it would probably break up in the sky before America notices. Japan notices, tells America, and proceed to completely **** North Korea until it becomes the Asian Grand Canyon.

Millitarly impossible for NK to make an assult on the West sea board of Continental U.S for many reasons. The N.Koreans don't the conventional meams to make an attack on the USA because of lower grade weaponary like Scud C/B based SRBM or 1950s Remero Class diseil submarine. They can't even pass through S.Korean military positions, having superior technological might with the K2-Black Panther tank (Fitted an laser ramge finder and Gun stabilization system), K-3 SPH for artiliary suport, Mobile IFV, PAC-3 Patriot system for long range Air defence ect. The South Korean Navy also has the Sejong the Class DDG, which is the best AD Destroyer in the world (well over 11,000 tonnes) and has 130 VLS which has SM-2 Anti-Ballistic missile, guided by the SPY-1D radar (which is part of the Aegis combat system). Any Rocket launch from the N.Koreans will be tracked by the US navy's 7th fleet based of Tokyo Habour bay.

Just reiterating what others have mentioned previously on this thread and elsewhere - North Korea wouldn't dare go on the offensive; not unless the regime has a death wish.

What you hear from their diplomats and their propaganda machines is a load of hot air that means nothing what-so-ever. The way I see it is that Kim Jong-Un's trying to gain support from his people by looking like this aggressive leader who would "smite the imperialist aggressors mercilessly".

Their country is poor and starving, so they are just posturing to try and force South Korea and America to release more aid, although this time, they have upped the stakes quite a bit.

However they have no allies apart from Iran, which itself isn't in a good position to really help them. Even China isn't allied with them, however I still believe a North Korean war will be long, primarily because their civilian population have been so indoctrinated with Kim-il-sung's ideology, that there may be an insurgency after South Korea and America invade.

I don't think that North Korea will attack America, if they do start a war, it will be with South Korea, but of course this automatically will involve the USA in the war.

China is officially their ally, but if North Korea made a first strike against the USA, do you really think China would support them? I think it would be more likely China would invade North Korea themselves to stop the Americans doing it. I'm sure China doesn't want to start a war with the USA, and they probably don't want them fighting one on their doorstep either.
