Stockbroker - A Levels?

You're too young to be thinking about what university you want to go to and what career that will get you into but...

For what you have in mind Portsmouth is not going to get you there, and to be honest, probably not Bath. Avoid ICT, it WILL be looked down upon. Take on languages, do take Economics, and you'll need to take Maths Alevel if not double Maths Alevels. Right now, if you really want to put energy into this then work as hard as you can to get your GCSE grades up to A/A* standards.

I can't see that happening, to be quite blunt. Accountant, perhaps.

This thread makes me

Personally, I'm of the opinion that anybody predicted a borderline 'C' in GCSE Maths probably hasn't the aptitude to do anything much more numerically-oriented than manning a cash register.

...worth attempting maths a-level with a C in GCSE do you think?!

Wow.

A quite historic bump I quite agree, but I vaguely remembered my username (Pompey_Lad - pah, what was I thinking?!) so did a Google search and found this goldmine of entertainment.

For what it's worth, I now work for a world leading Investment Bank and have done since graduating with a Politics degree.

For anyone else on here - never feel disheartened from what smug morons suggest on here. They know nothing. They are all bubble wrapped. Just work hard, and never be afraid to put yourself forward for responsibilities. It's got me the job of my dreams and two promotions in 20 months.

If you don't get all A*s, it's not the end of the world. Don't be afraid to work your way up if it comes to it - if you show drive combined with ability, you will do well.

Cheers...

In what role?

In what role?

Just manning the cash register, mate.

I work as an Analyst in an IB division with a global presence, but I specialise in the EMEA region. Not going to delve into specifics. You get the picture.

Regardless, I hope you've had a fantastic career and wish you all the best. I was only 15... but I'm a lot uglier now, and probably a little less sensitive!

I laughed so hard when I saw this - so happy for you!
Congrats and best of luck for the future. Please continue to show these people otherwise (I'm aware that this is an old thread, but nevertheless, stumbled upon it and just had to comment.)
