Passport expires before september 1st

My passport expires in june, before the first of september however i have applied for a new one and would be expecting it around may, When applying should i:

1: use the details of the passport that's about to expire
2: wait for a new passport and use those details, which may come after the deadline for student finance

Also The deadline for student finance in the UK is may 19th right?

Wait for your new one as it will be rejected if your passport has expired. Passports dont take long these days.
The deadline varies depending on where in the UK you live. It is not a real deadline so dont panic.
