Re: TSR Labour Party Question Time.

Sorry Labour, I am going to storm in and join the discussion.

As the most Europhille Member of this House and Leader of the Pro-Europe Society, we had a Referendum which was in favour of continued membership of the EU. I do not get why someone is calling for one now. Yes the relationship has changed slightly but we should remain in the EU. If there is a Referendum next term, I will strongly campaign for continued Membership. The rules state 1 Referendum per term.
    Exactly!
I welcome the Honourable Member's interjection.

I thank the Honourable Member for this question. Indeed increasingly this government is isolating itself from Europe and pursuing an anti European agenda. I sincerely hope that this ending of VAT is put to a vote in this House so we can properly have an open and frank discussion about this serious tax change. On the issue of the referendum, I have made my views on the issue clear. We had a referendum in the House, less than two years ago, the people unanimously voted in favour of remaining in the European Union and we should respect this decision. This government is on a mission to continuously call for a referendum until the vote is in their favour and this is unacceptable.

I personally do not feel a referendum should be called, however if the house votes in favour of one, I will be campaigning to remain in the European Union.
Really? Because I recall the result being around 60/40. The campaign to stay in the EU won, but the result was far from unanimous.

I'd like to see us leave it, but I also want to see the powers of our own parliament and government vastly reduced at the same time.

The people voted to stay in the EU and I support their decision. If the House votes in favour of a referendum, I will be campaigningto stay in the union. Let's see what happens.

The stay in campaign can't win when the people realise we have world free trade. The public have no interest in influencing the politics of other nations or in any of the other nonsensical arguments put forward by pro EU members of MHoC. £9billion per year is better spent on strengthening our economy.

Let the people be the judge of that.

The rebate has been left out, Britain gets some money back because Maggie waved her handbag and demanded money back, the UK was quite blocking measures at this time.

Rightly so. It is and was our money and it's right that we should get it back being a big contributor to the EU. Why European Parliament politicians demand it back every time we say no to one of the EU's policies (e.g. December's veto) is beyond me. It's our money and we should be able to have it back if we want it back.

I would like to ask the Labour Party where does they stand on the Foreign Secretary's repatriation of powers proposals?

I fear this would start the way to isolationism

The canon amendment already means that we can do what the hell we like so why don't we just go the final step and take the powers back. Our future doesn't lie in Europe, but in the world and in the world free trade zone.

Don't ask for questions! Then our dearth of ideas and thoughts, and the hollowness of our whole ideology, will be uncovered :ninja:
:ninja: Questions are good, in my book.

How does your party feel about members backing by-election candidates that support the banning of porn?

As the Shadow Business Secretary, I would give my standing that an agreement may be reached regarding its banning. I feel that more needs to be done to regulate its viewing and use by minors.

You can't regulate the internet. You make it sound like some sort of epidemic at what age do you feel it is unacceptable to be able to access porn?

I would say, as I feel that the Hon. Member should agree with, that 18 years plus should be the age of access.

Out of touch. You are saying you didn't view porn till the age of 18?

*Accidentally edited and didn't add a new post:
Would the Member here be endorsing the viewing of such materials by minors?*

With regards to the 'Out of touch' part:
When new bills and amendments enter the House, they are done so to cater for changing times. The idea of correcting this with some kind of Bill would be to alter something that is wrong. The internet is relatively new, and so things are slowly coming out which we have to sort out. This is one of them.

Would the Member here be endorsing the viewing of such materials by minors? I would question the morality of a 12 year old child viewing such content on their own - this would be entirely wrong, and I would be against this.
I must have been about 12 when I first had pornographic images on my phone. What was wrong about that? Did it jump out of the screen and attack me?

I didn't say it did. But it's wrong for children under 18 to be seeing it - bearing in mind that it's illegal to have sex until you're 16.
