Hello!Hello! This is the place to ask the Labour Party questions, or sign up yourself which you can do by clicking here. Your questions can be about policy goals, or legislation we've already implemented; alternatively you can just say hello or ask us how we're doing! If you're here for slightly more specific information, this thread also has our Leadership/MP List and our Current Manifesto for you to check out.

Because we try to reply to questions as quickly as possible, many of the answers will be the personal opinions of Labour MPs and not necessarily the party line. If you want that, you'll have to be a little more patient as if you raise a really interesting issue we hadn't thought of, we'll need to discuss it first!

    Anyway, questions please!

    Leftist politics. Done right.

Whilst the opposition parties spent last term opposing one another, Labour led a pan-left coalition into government, successfully setting a social democratic agenda as it went.

    We, proudly:

    * Ensured that Parliament must be consulted before the armed forces are used for combat.
    * Championed the efficient use of energy in order to help save our environment.
    * Abolished the archaic tradition of monarchy and introduced a British Republic.
    * Capped the price of school dinners.
    * Made schools safer with compulsory first-aid training for staff.
    * Strengthened the Good Friday Agreement.
"I am proud of our achievements. There is an immense amount more to do."
    - Clement Attlee

What we'll do with your vote:

    * We believe that Britain deserves a concrete, written constitution and will begin inclusive talks.
    * We will work for a sustainable future focusing on tidal power.
    * We will allow the devolved institutions to be self-funding, and begin further devolution to give them freedom to set their own agendas.
    * We promise not to privatise any state assets, the family silver will be under lock and key in the dresser.
    * We will reform the Resident’s Income so that the Treasury doesn’t pay millionaires a second salary.
    * We will raise the minimum wage to at least the living wage.
    * We believe that taxation should be progressive but not punitive, and that taxpayers have a right to expect excellent public services in return.
    * We will work towards an accessible, fun Model House of Commons.

    Okay, let's get this started:

    1. What do you think of the Tories?

    2. Define totalitarian.

why does GB say taxes are down when everyone who was on 10p rate will now be on the 20p rate? In what way have taxes been reduced?

Well, Bernard, I don't like the Tories much. There are specific Tories who I do like, but not when they're spreading their politics about.

A totalitarian is that of or relevant to a centralised government that refuses to tolerate opposing parties. A totalitarian state exercises dictatorial control over the country.

Two out of two. I'm starting to think I might like this racket.

Economics is not my strong point, being an eighteen year old with no training in the field. I'm going to leave this question on pending for one of our lot who knows better than I do. You're not being ignored. Also, please bear in mind that this thread is for discussion of the TSR Labour Party. Although I'm sure that we're more than willing to answer questions about them as well.

    1. Well personally I dislike polarising any party, a healthy person has a varied view depending on the topic at hand.

    2. A concentrated government without checks or balance. A regime that exercises authority via underhanded tactics, secret police etc.

However I'm rather new to politics as a whole, so try to take what I say with a measure of salt.

Labour has bashed itself so hard over the head recently. I support them still because they're the only people decent enough to support but they make it hard for themelves.

I'm inclined to agree with this, if we're talking about the real life Labour Party. However, this thread is for the TSR Labour Party, which is more left-wing than the real life lot.

In fact, I should edit this into the thread title.

Can you join a party but not be an active member. I agree with the policies, but don't have the time to be wallowing in seas of legislation.

You said you can never be too left wing. We're far more left wing than Labour.

With regards to China: I'm a socialist and I wrote a bill trying to enforce human rights around the world (I assume that's your problem with China).

Just pick out the biggest thing that separates us from New Labour, so that we can have a nice spat about it, why don't you.
