How much money do you spend on socialising?

Hi!! I was just wondering how much money do you spend on drinking, going out and socialising in general per week at uni? Thanks!!

Depends on how much of a clubber you are.

Depends on whether you're on a campus uni, or a city uni.

Depends on whether you're a big drinker.

For me, on a typical night out £10 on pre-drinks, more money for drinks inside, £5entry, and around £6 taxi there and back
20 quid is standard
Most weeks:
I do the pub quiz and get a drink while I'm there - c. £2 (though now I'm giving up coke I'll be either buying iced coffee for £1.65 or tap water for free meaning I spend either £2.65 or £1)
Friday happy hour at the SU - I buy a pint of cider - £1.65

Around £25 per week.
Too much.

Do you go out every week? How many times? Or twice a month? (I know it depends on the person, but just an average)
I go out to a regular event every fortnight, £5 entry, couple of quid each way for the tube. I do other things rarely, usually less costly. So we're looking at about £5 a week currently on going out. Next year I'll be away from London (sad times) so it'll go down to almost nothing.

And which one do you think is the best option?

Clubs: you generally pay an entry fee to get in. Club nights start around 10pm but you wouldn't get there until at least 11 xD The music is loud and it's dark and there's lots of dancing and so on.

Pubs: Generally old. Some do food, some specialise in food and are called 'gastropubs.' Usually open from about midday til late.

Bars are like pubs, but usually in newer buildings. Often serve beer etc in bottles rather than from draught, but that's not really a dividing line. They are often 'cooler' and have music.

Thanks for the explanation!!! Do you also have to pay an entry fee in bars and pubs, or is it free with the condition that you buy inside?
Is it live music in clubs or there's a DJ?

Clubs are generally rubbish, you pay to listen to music played in bars (just with a DJ) and people are often pilled up.

Pubs are better for your afternoon pint or pub quiz.

Bars are the best, personally i'm into the whole classy cocktail bar thing.

Bars and pubs are generally free entry, and you are expected to buy a drink, yes.
The live music/DJ thing varies - generally the cheaper it is the more likely it is to be a DJ I think?
