Traps are used a lot in the deadlift and (especially) the power clean, as well as the bench press for stabilising, so that makes sense. I don't think you really need to isolate them. I just do it because loading up a crapload of weight on the bar and shrugging something greater than my 1RM helps tremendously for grip strength (and big traps look awesome). Also it helps me get used to lower weight.

If I remember correctly, muscle activation for lats is pretty much equal for both chin-ups and pullups, so it doesn't really matter. The difference is that pullups work the brachioradialis more and chin-ups use the biceps more. I prefer chin ups because I can do more of them (it's rarely my lats that fail first anyway).

Pretty similar, splitting hairs really.

Although I don't think "feeling" the lats is definitely a sign they're growing or you're doing it correctly. MMC is a bit BS in terms of how most think about it. If you perform it correctly you'll be fine.

You'll feel it WAY more if you go incredibly slow but then you do 5 reps. You go at a decent pace and get 20. I'd say latter is better. You'll feel latter when you're done for sure, just maybe not as obviously as the former.

Good luck!

Barbell rows? every muth****er (/CT fletcher voice) that has a big back seems to hammer these.
I'm gonna work on chest to bar pullups. Those last few inches will really work my lacking scap strength (one thing where the lat pull down is better because you can drop the weight and really squeeze at the bottom).

Cheers dudez!
what are good stretches for hip flexors and adductors?

Lunge stretch for hip flexors is the best. You gotta bend at hips, not back, and gently tense the muscle to stretch Tensing the glutes helps too.

Yet to find a good one for adductors. I do the normal one sitting on floor sole to sole then pushing knees down: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZADA5EzIj_k&sns=em

And a mixture of these. These are pretty amazing.

Gotta say for the inside of the leg especially near knees and the IT band on the outside, only foam rolling does the trick. Those areas can get really tight and there's no real stretches I know of that will relieve.

you could be onto something there, I've only had problems since I stopped foam rolling

Walk instead of getting the bus a few times or something til you have £10 then go to Argos. You know it's worth it. I have one of the totally basic ones like they sell and my gym has a posh £40 grind style one and I recon they both do the job the same.

Tennis ball works pretty well for most things too. Especially the bottom of your feet. That can get rid of a lot of perceived hamstring inflexibility

Are straps the best way to avoid blisters? Is it worth investing in them?

Sounds like crap I know. But the idea behind it is that the fascia in your body is all connected, and that if one area of it is tight, it has an impact on everywhere else. Most people have very "tight" feet (bordering on plantar fasciitis), so any form of release for there will be hugely beneficial for you. Try it out if you don't believe me! Try and touch your toes before it, then after it. There are videos on the internet for tennis ball foot massages.

No, just learn how to hold the bar properly and take care of your hands. http://stronglifts.com/deadlifts-callus-formation-treatment/

Edit: straps are a good thing to have anyway though for things where your grip shouldn't be the limiting factor.

Got my gym clothes on. Thought i'd lie down and rest my legs for a few minutes. This was just before 6pm. Next thing I know it's 8pm. Damn. Hate it when that happens lol

I'll go tomorrow. Pwomise

That's too late for me. By the time I get down there and stretch it'll be 8.30pm. I have to wake up early and don't like coming home from gym and going straight to bed. I need an hour chillout time, besides eating, otherwise I go mad lol

I was gonna download it on Monday but I wait for the bigger files to have more seeds. I don't visit the threads anyway, so no spoilers! Episode 5 was a good 'un.
I don't usually follow the hype train. I've only just downloaded the second half of the last series of The Walking Dead. And with Breaking Bad, my favourite show, I waited for the whole season to finish before downloading because it's too damn addictive. It's more exciting talking it about it I guess but downloading or watching movies/series after the hype dies is a 'purer' experience

I have semi-hypermobile joints which occasionally causes me issues. I really want to do dips (either chest or triceps dips), but my shoulders just feel like they're gonna explode if I try. I also feel a lot of pressure on my sternum and think I almost pulled my pec minor trying them. I am packing my shoulders properly and everything, and I'm ensuring that I'm not going down too far. Does anyone have any ideas, or should I just give up on them?
