Are you looking for a specific type of Rock? I am just asking because there are so many forms of Rock music, Rock by itself is very loose.
For me:
Prog Rock: Pink Floyd
Hard Rock: Led Zeppelin
just to name a couple.
It is impossible for me to choose my favourite, as you can't compare prog to hard rock for example. Floyd and Zep are completely different styles.
But if I were given only one choice, I would say: Pink Floyd

Of course their are many sub-genres like psychedelic, progressive, alternative etc but you can state what you like. I merely stated rock to avoid the obvious perpetrators coming into the discussion which don't actually warrant the title of being a 'band'. I am going to say radiohead just because I like the way they reinvent themselves continuously. But radiohead could be categorised differently and not as 'rock'.

Wishbone Ash for me. I don't think there are many bands who are still producing music after more than forty years. And it's STILL really good.
