Naturism - would you ever be a nudist?

7Naturism is something that has always interested me. Coming from a pretty liberal and 'earthy' background, nudity has never bothered me too much and the taboo that society places on the most natural form, the naked human body, has always bothered me slightly. I feel it's important not to feel ashamed of your body and also not to over-sexualise nudity when it's not in a sexual context. I also think that there would be less body issues and insecurities as it would be common place to see 'normal' bodies naked, rather than the 'perfect' ones prescribed to us in porn and the media.
Therefore I'm considering joining the YBN (Young British Naturists).

I wanted to get some other opinions on naturism. Would you? Have you? And why? When I've mentioned this to my friends most of them look horrified haha.

P.s. abusive and silly comments aren't really what I'm after - if yiu have a personal polite opinion or experience feel free to share

I wouldn't personally, I like walking around the house etc nude but I don't think I'd feel very comfortable going outside with no clothes on  But if it's what you're into go for it!

I have respect for people who feel confident enough to do that. I couldn't, I have too many issues regarding my body.

Naturism doesn't just take place outside - particularly not in a country this cold

Nah that's totally fair enough, and I should mention that just as I dont judge those who choose to be naked, neither do I judge those who would prefer not to be.

I do think however that maybe if naturism was more openly popular and nudity was more common place there would be less body issues and insecurities as it would be common place to see 'normal' bodies naked, rather than the 'perfect' ones prescribed to us in porn and the media.

I really don't understand why people would want to walk around naked - I mean what purpose does it have? Other than "sticking it to the man" and boycotting clothing...

I totally see where you're coming from with your point about body insecurities decreasing if naturism was more ... I don't know the word, successful? However I don't think it's something that will catch on enough to make a significant impact. Personally, it's not something I would partake it, I think society is far too sexualised nowadays (and as I said, I don't see that significantly changing) I would feel judged and I'm such an insecure person anyway.

Whilst I respect what you have to say, there's no call for aggressive remarks against people who don't force their nudity upon anyone. I've created this thread to ask for personal experiences and informed opinions.
