Arsey's Edexcel M1 Summer 2013 Model Solutions BOTH PAPERS

Here are my solutions to the M1 paper. Fairly easy, moments one will cause problems though.

1. momentum - pretty easy, standard

2. Dynamics - it is pretty easy but it could cause problems.

3. Statics - fairly standard

4. Kinematics - easy

5. Speed time graph - standard, simple.

6. Moments - quite a bit harder than normal, it will cause a lot of problems

7. Vectors - pretty damn easy

8. Connected particles - First part was a joke, last part is easy but doesn't get asked a lot.

I think it will be about 62-63 for an A

I have also uploaded the other time zone paper, which I thought was quite a bit harder.

(I made a calc error with g on the inclined plane question!) :colondollar:

Thank you! Think I got mostly the same answers...I converted everything to numbers to 3 s.f. ...that won't be a problem right?

that is fine unless it specifically said otherwise

For the last question will i get marks if i said acting 45 degreea downwards

How many marks would you lose for getting 5(c) wrong and using the wrong value to work out 5(d). Would you get any followthrough marks?

And would i lose a mark for not putting 30+T in the speed time graph

What about 2 sigfig? I put everything that involved gravity in 2sf. Is it fine?

For the last question, do you think you can say "South West" for direction?

Well, this paper is completely different from the one I sat yesterday. I suppose Edexcel is making different papers for different regions like CIE now?

Any thoughts on grade boundaries Arsey?

tallying up marks (without ECF) lost about 13 marks, I may get more if its ECF, I should've got that suvat one right...

how many marks do you think i would have lost for number 3, if when i was supposed to use cos30 and sin30 i used cosa and sina instead, as other then that the method would have been completely fine

Thank you arsey.

Just to ask, for 8(c) i got the same force as you but I said it was a bearing of 45 degrees do you think i will still get the mark?
Hi, thankyou so muchh!! Was just wondering, if i did everything right on the slope question but just forgot to multiply R by the friction coeffiecient, how many marks would i lose? Also, and ideas for full ums marks?? thankss?
I did pretty badly in this paper!
